Theme for The Nineteenth Sunday after Pentecost
The pursuit of earthly gain often leads one away from the things of God. Jesus directs us back to the First Commandment and to repentance for our failures.
Hymn #694
Alleluia. Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. Alleluia.
Lord Jesus Christ, whose grace always precedes and follows us, help us to forsake all trust in earthly gain and to find in You our heavenly treasure; for You live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
